Nourishing Bodies and Minds: Why Home-Cooked Meals Matter in Early Childcare

Food is more than fuel. It’s connection, culture, learning and care. At MACC, we believe that what children eat — and how they experience mealtimes — matters deeply.

That’s why we have a dedicated on-site cook who prepares fresh, home-cooked meals every single day. Our 6-weekly rotating menu is carefully planned to provide balanced, nutritious food that children actually enjoy eating. From warming soups in winter to fresh fruit platters in summer, every meal is made with care and real ingredients.

But mealtimes at MACC are about so much more than nutrition. They’re curriculum moments. Children learn about different cultures through food, develop fine motor skills as they serve themselves, practise social skills as they share a table with friends, and build independence as they make choices about what and how much to eat.

We also cater for a wide range of dietary needs — from allergies and intolerances to cultural and religious requirements. Every child deserves to feel included at the table, and our kitchen team works closely with families to make sure that happens. Because when children feel nourished and cared for, they’re ready to learn.
