About Moresby Avenue Child Care & Early Learning Centre
For over 35 years, we’ve been caring for the children of Bulleen and beyond. What started with a group of parents who believed in quality, affordable childcare has grown into a vibrant early learning community. We’re still here, still locally run, still committed to what matters most: your child’s wellbeing and development.
Our Story
In 1988, a group of local parents created Moresby Avenue Child Care with a simple vision: a warm, nurturing place where children could thrive and families could feel supported. We’re a not-for-profit, community-run centre, managed by a parent committee. This means every decision we make is guided by what’s best for children and families—not profit margins.
Over the decades, we’ve evolved with the early education field, updated our knowledge of child development, and deepened our commitment to play-based learning and family partnership. But what hasn’t changed: the genuine care and attention every child receives, and the trust that families place in us.
Our Philosophy
Every child is unique. We see your child as an individual with their own personality, pace, interests and strengths. We don’t fit children into a mould; we support them in being fully themselves.
Play is how children learn. Through play, children make sense of the world, develop problem-solving skills, build resilience, and discover their own capabilities. We create environments and provide experiences that spark curiosity and joy.
Families are partners. You know your child best. We work alongside you, sharing observations, asking your input, and supporting your family’s values and goals.
We belong to a community. We’re part of Bulleen and the broader world. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people, whose land we gather on. We celebrate diversity, welcome all families, and help children understand they’re part of something bigger.
Our Approach
Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
Our educational program is aligned with the EYLF, Australia’s national curriculum for early childhood education. This means we:
- Recognise children as capable learners. We build on what children already know and can do.
- Support five key learning areas: Communication, literacy and language; Creative, physical and social-emotional development; and Numeracy and world knowledge.
- Follow children’s interests. Rather than rigid lesson plans, we notice what children are curious about and build learning from there.
- Document and share learning. Through StoryPark, you’ll see your child’s learning journey—photos, observations and moments that matter.
Play-Based Learning for All Ages
- Infants (3 months–2 years): Sensory exploration, secure attachment, language emerging, movement and discovery with one-on-one attention.
- Toddlers (2–3 years): Expanding independence, early social interaction, pretend play, physical coordination and beginning self-regulation.
- Preschoolers (3–5 years): Complex play, friendships, emergent literacy and numeracy, school readiness, and developing confidence in group settings.
Our Committee
MACC is proudly governed by a volunteer Committee of Management made up of parents whose children attend the centre. As a not-for-profit, community-run organisation, this means the people making decisions about the centre truly understand what families need — because they’re families themselves. The committee provides governance to the centre ensuring highest standard of care and education. Their involvement helps keep fees affordable, maintain our warm community culture, and guide the centre’s future.
All current parents are welcome and encouraged to nominate for a position on the committee. It’s a meaningful way to contribute to your child’s early learning community and help shape the centre for years to come. Nominations are invited at our Annual General Meeting, but expressions of interest are welcome at any time — simply get in touch with our Director.
Our Director
Our Director, Anika, is responsible for the overall operations and management of the centre, providing leadership across the service and ensuring the centre continues to operate effectively, safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and quality standards.
She brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to the early childhood sector and holds a Master of Teaching. She works closely with the Parent Committee, educators, families and external stakeholders to support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the service.
With a strong focus on quality, collaboration and positive relationships, she is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and supported to learn and grow. She also supports and mentors educators, fostering a positive team culture and encouraging professional growth and high-quality practice.
She is passionate about building strong partnerships with families and the wider community and ensuring the centre remains responsive to the needs of the children, families and educators it serves.
Our Team
Our educators are qualified early childhood professionals who love what they do. They’re trained in child development, first aid, child safety and the EYLF. But beyond qualifications, they’re warm, patient, thoughtful people who listen to children and genuinely enjoy the messy, joyful work of early education.
Every team member undergoes thorough background checks and ongoing professional development. Your child’s safety and wellbeing are our absolute priority.
Mental Health and Wellbeing
We’re a Be You framework participant, which means we actively support mental health and resilience from the earliest ages. We:
- Model and teach emotional awareness. Children learn to recognise and name feelings.
- Create psychologically safe environments. Every child belongs and is valued.
- Support parents too. We recognise that parental wellbeing matters—when families are okay, children thrive.
We also value the wellbeing of our educators and understand that working in early childhood education can be both rewarding and demanding. Our team has access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), providing confidential support for a range of personal and professional matters. This partnership provides our team with access to professional guidance and expertise, helping educators better understand and respond to children’s individual needs and support positive outcomes for children and families.
Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people, the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which Moresby Avenue Child Care stands. We recognise their ongoing connection to Country and culture. As early learning educators, we’re committed to weaving Indigenous perspectives into our curriculum and helping all children learn about and respect the world’s first peoples.

At MACC, quality early education means looking after the whole child—their physical health, emotional safety, social connections, cognitive development and creative spirit. That’s why we offer:
