Kinder Room (Pre-Schoolers)
Moresby Avenue Childcare and Early Learning Centre (MACC) runs a government-funded Kindergarten program for children aged between 3 and 6 years. One full-time and one part-time Kindergarten teacher, both with bachelor degrees in early childhood education, as well as one part-time early childhood educator care for a small group of 15 children.
We provide Kinder children with a range of rich and stimulating experiences to nurture their development, curiosity and exploration to not only prepare them for school but to prepare them for life. The Kindergarten teachers regularly observe and share their findings with families. We focus on making the transition to school as smooth as possible by ensuring that the individual child has the necessary skills required to be ready participants and confident learners. Rather than focusing on producing recognisable results, we value the children’s participation in a variety of activities. Thus, MACC’s Kinder program aims to develop each child’s confidence in their own abilities, and in taking on new challenges.
A copy of the Kinder education program is displayed in the room for parents to view. The program provides for a wide range of individual and group experiences, which foster all areas of the children’s development. MACC’s program design is flexible and regularly modified to include or extend on the children’s current interests, parent/community input and the children’s strengths and needs. It is also designed to offer the children a balance of active and quiet play, indoor and outdoor play, structured and unstructured play, group/individual and open-ended play experiences.
